Educate Children, Transform Communities

Masasabi

KnowledgeBeat launched in Masasabi in 2009. In 2010, Masasabi showed their commitment to KnowledgeBeat’s programs by contributing the materials and labor for the establishment of a KnowledgeCenter Library. Masasabi students attend Girls Empowerment and HIV/AIDS Camps, participate in School Children at the Masasabi Site Environmental Education programs, and receive Scholarships to attend secondary school while community members benefit from the Community Initiatives program.

Masasabi is a quintessential Zambian community located 27 km from Itezhi Tezhi town. The livelihood of the people depends on corn production and subsistence farming. The school supports 200 students in grades 1 – 9 under the instruction of 10 teachers. In 2010, the community built a new classroom block for the school with funds from the government. Smiles emanate from all as does a warm hospitality - visitors will not go hungry or without shelter despite the impoverished conditions of the village.
